Bundanon

20 minutes to the west of Nowra is historic Bundanon, given by Arthur & Yvonne Boyd to the nation. It's open every Sunday, details from Shoalhaven Information Centre (1300 662808). Both the house, and the studio with its unfinished paintings are fascinating, and the grounds are ideal for a picnic.
To the east of Nowra on the way to Greenwell Point is Pyree. This is a very flat area once known as "swamp paddock". One of the remaining old buildings, built with convict labour by Alexander Berry, is Jindyandy Mill, which now features a craft shop. At Greenwell Point, known for it's fishing and oysters, there's a seafood restaurant and fish and chip shop. You can also hire boats there.
On the same peninsula as Pyree, are Callala and Currarong, popular surfing and sailing spots. At Currarong there are fantastic views from Point Perpendicular lighthouse and coastal walks from Abraham's Bosom.
Between Jervis Bay and Nowra you'll find the Australian Naval Aviation Museum, which has an interesting exhibition of vintage aircraft.

The Shoalhaven area is a distinct wine-producing region of the south coast. The oldest established winery is Coolangatta, outside Nowra on the coastal road to Gerringong. West of Nowra is Canbewarra Winery, and north towards Berry is The Silos. Further north are the more recent wineries of Seven Mile and Crooked River.
Milton, Ulladulla and Berry
40 minutes to the south of Jervis Bay through forests and dairy country are Milton and Ulladulla. Milton has several interesting art and craft shops and cafes/restaurants. Ulladulla has a pretty harbour, but it's main street is very uninspired 60s concrete style. Berry is a historic village 40 minutes north of Jervis Bay, and it also has several interesting art and craft shops, cafes and restaurants.
There is a huge variety of Shoalhaven accommodation, with Jervis Bay being the most popular. See:
- Jervis Bay Guesthouse
- Shoalhaven accommodation (Shoalhaven Council's site), phone 1300 662808.
